K-Sentials Flowing Screed Compounds - Knauf Floor Systems
The new technical brochure F20-IC.de_ENG “Knauf Floor Systems on the Basis of K-Sentials Flowing Screed Compounds Construction and Application Technology” provides a detailed overview of all the important information on various topics such as building physics, screed systems, workmanship, application, drying and application of floor coverings.
KNAUF SLUMP FLOW DETERMINATION
K-Sentials flowing screed Compound
In the laboratories at the Knauf plants, a mixing design specification is determined to identify the ideal ratio of compound to aggregate and water. Metering the quantity of water is decisive to ensure the optimum consistence of the mortar when manufacturing flowing screed. The slump flow specified by the plant laboratory can be set and regularly inspected, when necessary, using the Hägermann funnel. This is easily done using the Knauf slump flow kit in the carry case. Compounds on an alpha hemihydrate basis
Plus points:
- Best surface results
- More insensitive to influences such as draughts or heat as the screed has bonded and hardened almost completely on the first day
- Excellent drying behaviour
- No system-related grinding of the surface required when professionally manufactured and installed
- Quick to install, quickly hard enough for foot traffic
Compounds on a thermal anhydrite basis
Plus points:
- Good application properties and features
- Good, open-pore surface
- High strengths
- No system-related grinding of the surface required when professionally manufactured and installed
- Hard enough for foot traffic after 24 hours, loadable after 48 hours

DIGITAL KNAUF COMPOUND EVENT
Keeping a close watch on supply of raw material
"Knauf is delighted to once again engage in comprehensive interaction with its national and international customers in the field of K-Sentials flowing screed binders, in addition to the face-to-face contact it involves," said Janis Natzke, Head of the Flooring and Binders Division at Knauf, at the start of the event in October. The K-Sentials team informed screed layers and industrial processors from Germany and overseas about the current political and raw material-relevant topics of interest in the binder/compound technology field.
In particular, the upcoming phase-out of coal-fired power generation and the associated loss of the important FGD gypsum raw material requires new strategies to secure supplies of gypsum and gypsum-based binders. The production processes, in particular in the form of additional investments, and recipes must be constantly adapted to suit raw materials originating from different sources. Highly efficient and modern research and development work at Knauf is a guarantee of consistently high product quality in this sector.
